Patna, Jan. 8: The stylish ride was there but the winner rider was missing.

Today was the first day for the lucky draw of Har Din Utsav, Har Mahine Inaam, planned by Regent cinema. At least 200 cinegoers turned up with their tickets at the theatre but had to return empty-handed.

None of the tickets taken out from a jar matched their numbers. None of the 101 winners announced on the day were not present at the venue. (The lucky draw is set to make 101 persons happy with prizes every first Sunday of the month till December.)

Arun Prasad, octogenarian owner of a commercial centre, did the honours and brought out the winning ticket — 003043 — for the motorbike. The lucky person had watched the 3.30pm show of Don 2 on December 30, 2011.

If the ultimate winner can take home a cool bike, those coming on the rear are not worse off.

Today, 20 tickets were pulled out for the fourth prize — wristwatch.

Five persons were selected for third prize (Samsung cellphones) and two for the second prize (dinner set). This month’s consolation prize winners will get movie tickets or other gizmos. Those present at the theatre today were disappointed but went back with a hope for a “better luck next time”.

Buddha Colony resident Nilesh Kumar said: “Last week, I came to watch Don 2 with a few friends. I hoped to bag a prize today but my ticket number didn’t match any of those drawn from the jar. Who knows the next time I could be the winner.” Rajesh Sinha, another cine buff from Boring Road, is also an optimist like Nilesh.

Rajesh said: “I am a Cinepolis regular but I watched Don 2 here recently. It is logical to watch a film at Regent now. I do not have a motorbike and it would be great to own one.”

Happy with the response that can beat the piracy menace, Regent owner Suman Kumar Sinha said: “We will display the winning ticket numbers outside the counter. These would also be displayed before and during the interval of a movie. The numbers would be advertised in newspapers too, so they can come and claim their prize in the coming 10 days.”

If the winner fails to turn up in 10 days, the cinema would withhold the prizes, said Suman.
