Jab at energy scheme

Patna, Jan. 16: BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi today attacked the government for its poor implementation of projects under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme.

In a release, Modi stated in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan, only one per cent work has been executed in Gaya, the home district of chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, while in Nalanda (the home district of Nitish Kumar), 16 per cent of 998 villages have been covered under the scheme.

Railway line

Patna: Junior railways minister Manoj Sinha on Friday inaugurated the extension of the Buxar-Mughalsarai train up to Varanasi by flagging it off at Dildarganj railway station under Danapur division of East Central Railway.

Fire

Patna: A fire broke out in the Bihar Intermediate Council building on Buddha Marg on Friday evening. Three fire tenders reached the spot to douse the flames.

Assets case

Patna: A case of disproportionate assets worth Rs 45.29 lakh was lodged with the vigilance police station against Patna drug controller Hemant Kumar Sinha after raids on his office and residence in Patna and Begusarai districts.

R-Day review

Patna: Divisional commissioner Narmadeshwar Lal on Friday held a review meeting on preparations for Republic Day at Gandhi Maidan.

Bank target

Patna: Union Bank of India chairman-cum-managing director Arun Tiwari on Friday said the bank plans to open 20 branches across Bihar by the end of the 2014-15 fiscal, including one at Boring Canal Road on Saturday.

Promotion

Patna: IAS officer Manish Kumar has been promoted from joint secretary to additional secretary rank with effect from January 1, 2015. Manish is, at present, posted as joint secretary of primary education in the education department.

Police station

Patna: The state government has approved the police headquarters' proposal to create Dwar Pahadi police station in Maoist-hit Jamui district.
