Meet to fight Maoists

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar went to New Delhi on Sunday to participate in a meeting of chief ministers of states affected by Left- wing extremism. Union home minister Rajnath Singh has convened the meeting on Monday.

Nitish is expected to put his ideas forward on tackling the Maoist violence. The meeting has been called in light of the Sukma Maoist attack on CRPF personnel, killing 25 jawans.

Dinkar event

Patna: BJP Rajya Sabha member and former Union minister C.P. Thakur attended an event in Kuwait on Sunday to observe poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar's death anniversary.

Jab at BJP

Patna: JDU spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad on Sunday accused the BJP of maligning the name of their opponents with an aim at the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Rajiv said the BJP could go to any extent to be in power.

Patna: Ram Krishna Nagar police have arrested an autorickshaw driver, Pintu alias Thanthan, for bootlegging. The police also seized 81 bottles of 375ml liquor each.

Ara: Bhojpur police have detained three youths for interrogation in connection with the murder of a person at his wedding in Pilapur village on Saturday night. Jagdishpur police station house officer Baidyanath Singh said Sudhir Singh, a resident of Uttardahan village in Bhojpur district, was shot during his "jaimaal" rituals.

Nawada: Maoists have demanded Rs 11 lakh from Shiv Shankar Singh, a contractor of a private road construction company, on Sunday, police said.

Sushil charge

Patna, May 7: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi today accused chief minister Nitish Kumar of tapping phones of his political associates and also those of his opponents.

He claimed that Nitish was using the details of RJD leader Lalu Prasad and Mohammad Shahabuddin's chat splashed by the media to pressure Lalu into supporting Nitish's aspiration of becoming the Prime Minister of the country.
