Liquor raid, 2 in net

Motihari: Police recovered at least 85 pouches of country liquor during a raid conducted in a hotel near Hospital Chowk late on Sunday night.

Two persons were arrested in this connection and a case was registered against the owner of the hotel, Priyaranjan.

Girl found

Motihari: Police recovered a teenaged girl from the house of one Jeet Lal Sahni in Kunwarpur village late on Sunday night. She was abducted on July 4. Sahni and four others have been made accused in the case filed by the victim’s father.

Arrests

Motihari: At least 79 persons were nabbed from different villages on Sunday in a special drive conducted against absconders following direction of East Champaran superintendent of police Sudhir Kumar Singh. Police on Monday said the arrested would be produced in court from where they would be forwarded to jail.

Red attack

Aurangabad: Suspected Maoists set on fire a garments shop after killing its owner Mohammad Kalam at Ramnagar market in Aurangabad district late on Sunday evening. Property worth over Rs 10 lakh was destroyed and search is on to nab the accused. The rebels also assaulted another shopkeeper, Udal Vyas, and threatened him with dire consequences.

One killed

Nawada: Mahesh Paswan (45), the husband of a ward member of Nawada, Samo Devi, was killed by armed criminals at Dedaur village in the district late on Sunday night.
