Force vows to fight violence
patna: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Patna frontier, observed Anti-Terrorism Day on Tuesday with a simple function on its premises in the city.
Aditya Misra, the inspector-general of frontier headquarters, Patna, administered oath to all the officers and employees who affirmed their commitment to oppose all forms of terrorism and violence. They also pledged to uphold and promote peace, social harmony and understanding among fellow human beings.
The SSB frontier headquarters congratulated a five-member team of mountaineers from the force, who scaled Mount Everest on Tuesday.
Election offices
patna: The state Congress president, Ashok Choudhary, inaugurated five election offices in various blocks of the Maharajganj parliamentary constituency on Tuesday. He is camping in the area from Monday. The leader of the Congress in the Assembly, Sadanand Singh, will also camp in the area to campaign in favour of the Congress candidate, Jitendra Swami.
Bribe arrest
patna (PTI): Additional sub-inspector Tribhuvan Singh, in Sitamarhi district, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5,000. A vigilance team laid a trap and caught Singh, posted at the Punaura outpost in the district, for taking the bribe.
Rs 15 lakh loot
Patna: Armed criminals looted Rs 15 lakh from the Gopalpur branch of Punjab National Bank in Lakhisarai district, around 150km southeast of Patna, on Tuesday, police said. Police said around six criminals entered the bank at 1pm posing as customers and overpowered two employees.
Youth drowns
munger (PTI): A youth drowned, while two others went missing on Tuesday while bathing in the Ganga at Shadipur village in Munger district. Sub-divisional officer Kundan Kumar said the three youths were practising running near the riverbank for police recruitment.
Tanker purchase
bhagalpur: Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation has decided to purchase 10 tankers to supply water to its different wards. Dipak Kumar Bhubania, the mayor, on Tuesday said the decision was taken on Monday evening. He said Rs 15 lakh would be spent in purchasing the tankers. The corporation would also impose a penalty of Rs 10,000 on anyone found guilty of installing deep water boring without the corporation’s permission, the mayor added.
Eight held
bhagalpur: Railway Protection Force nabbed eight male passengers from different trains at Bhagalpur railway station for travelling in the ladies’ compartments in the past 24 hours.
Cop shield
bhagalpur: Deputy superintendent of police, city, Bina Kumari, on Tuesday assured a 18-year-old girl residing under the jurisdiction of the University police station area that police would prevent her parents or anyone else from marrying her off against her wishes. On Monday, the girl had approached the police, accusing her parents of fixing her marriage without her consent.
