Order in varsity funds scam

Chhapra: Chief judicial magistrate Radhe Shyam Shukla on Wednesday issued summons to the former vice-chancellor of JD University, Chhapra, R.P. Sharma and three other varsity officials in connection with a case of misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 88 lakh.

The other persons against whom the court issued summons are the then registrar Vijay Pratap Kumar, the then finance adviser Buddhi Chand Singh and the then finance officer Sone Lal Sahni. An FIR in this connection was lodged in February 2011.

Two in net

Begusarai: Two persons were arrested and Rs 64 lakh in cash that was stolen from a cash van on Tuesday, was seized from them. Begusarai SP Manoj Kumar said raids were being carried out in Lakhisarai, Munger and Khagaria to nab others involved in the incident. The criminals stole Rs 83 lakh cash from the van when it was on its way to deposit money in ATMs.

One dead

Patna: Vivek Yadav, the husband of Saksohra panchayat head Baby Devi, was shot dead at Lachchochak village in Patna rural on Wednesday.

Complaint

Chhapra: The secretary of postgraduate teachers’ association of Jai Prakash University, Ranjit Singh, on Wednesday faxed a complaint to the office of the chancellor of the universities accusing the varsity vice-chancellor Dwijendra Gupta of flouting rules.

Patna: Former member of the Bihar Public Service Commission Shiv Jatan Thakur on Wednesday criticised Magadh University’s decision of accepting the joining of new principals even though their appointments are shrouded in controversy.

Patna: Patna College to organise an employment camp on November 25.

Stop payment

Chhapra: Saran SP Satya Vir Singh has stopped the payment of salary of five sub-inspectors of Chhapra town police station on the charges of dereliction of duty and has served showcause notices to them.

Power bill

Patna: Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd deputy general manager H.R. Pandey on Wednesday said the company would organise a three-day special camps from Friday for correction of electricity bill.
