CID starts probe into murder

B>l Patna: The state police’s criminal investigation department has started a probe into the murder of Kumar Sharad Chandra, former secretary of the Lakhisarai-based public school, Balika Vidyapith.

Sources said a team headed by a deputy superintendent of police visited the institute on Thursday and inquired about the incident, which took place on the premises on August 2 this year.

The name of a Delhi-based realtor, Anil Sharma, figured in the murder case.

Order for missing kids

B>l Patna: Inspector-general (weaker section) Arvind Pandey on Friday issued an order asking all the superintendents of police to ensure deployment of para-legal volunteers at all the police stations to trace missing children in the wake of the recent directive of the Supreme Court. Pandey said the station house officers would function as juvenile welfare officers of their respective police stations and would look into the complaints of missing children.

Heat on school

B>l Patna: CBSE has withdrawn the provisional affiliation granted to T Raza High School, Phulwarisharif, as the institution was being run from a place different from the one provided to the board.

Border arrests

B>l Patna: BSF personnel nabbed Mohammad Razib, Mohammad Wazir and Sushant Majumdar from Kishanganj on Friday and seized fake currency with a face value of Rs 1 lakh from their possession.

Man shot

B>l Aurangabad: Sanjay Yadav, a liquor shop owner, was shot at and critically injured on NH-2 in Aurangabad district late on Thursday night.

B>l Patna: Divisional commissioner Narmadeshwar Lal on Friday directed district magistrate and the senior superintendent of police to take stern action against those involved in cases of forceful grabbing of land.

Life term

B>l Patna: Ad hoc additional district and sessions judge on Friday sentenced Mohit Tiwari (24) of Gopalganj and Jaswant Singh (28) of Vaishali to life imprisonment in connection with the abduction and murder of Santosh Kumar, a bank employee, in 2009.

Showcause

B>l Patna: Divisional commissioner Narmadeshwar Lal on Friday ordered the issue of showcause notice to an executive engineer and a district planning officer and start departmental proceedings against them for being absent from a review meeting convened by the commissioner.

Demise

B>l Patna: Members of Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan expressed grief over the death of writer Rabin Shaw Pushp, who breathed his last on Thursday.

Lake report

B>l Motihari: Programme manager of Wetland International South Asia Ritesh Kumar visited the town on Friday to collect report on Motijheel, a natural lake that flows from the centre of the town.

Fest thanks

B>l Patna: The Bihar state branch of the Indian Red Cross Society on Friday thanked its doctors and volunteers for rendering their services at the health camps at different ghats during Chhath.
