Spot inspection of Asaram land

Gopalganj: Kuchaikot circle inspector Sunil Kumar Singh on Tuesday conducted a spot inquiry and verification of the ashram of televangelist Asaram Bapu at Tara Narav.

This was done to verify whether the land of the ashram belonged to its owner or not. Villagers had complained that the land didn’t belong to it.

Police have also pasted posters of Narayan Sai, the son of Asaram Bapu, throughout the district, near bus stands and railway stations with an appeal to people to provide information about him. Sai has been evading arrest and Asaram has been charged with raping a minor in Rajasthan.

Rape heat on ex-armyman

Chhapra: A retired army man has been accused of raping his six-year-old granddaughter at Daudpur village under the jurisdiction of Maker police station. The accused has been arrested. The minor was brought to Chhapra on Tuesday for medical examination. Her statement was recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the IPC.

SUV recovered

Siwan: A stolen SUV was recovered by the police and one person arrested in this connection. Town police station in-charge Sushil Kumar on Tuesday said that the jeep was recovered on Monday night from Babunia More in the town and one Prince Kumar was arrested. The jeep was stolen from a Patna showroom and an FIR was lodged with Patliputra police station.

Appointment

Patna: Rajendra Kumar has been appointed as the new regional head of Bank of Baroda, Patna region. On Tuesday, Rajendra said the focus of the bank would be on expansion of branches and ATM kiosks.

Railway exam

Patna: East Central Railway on Tuesday conducting an examination for promoting head constables to the post of assistant sub-inspector. A total of 395 applicants took part in the examination for 148 posts

Mishap death

Patna: A homeguard jawan was killed and six other policemen were injured when a police patrol vehicle collided head on with a lorry in Purnea town early on Tuesday morning. The injured have been admitted to the Sadar hospital. The condition of two policemen is critical. The deceased has been identified as Uttam Lal Sah, who was deputed at K-Haat police station.

Rebel held

Patna (PTI): A hardcore Maoist has been arrested from a village in Munger district of Bihar. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Special Task Force and CRPF raided Sonebarsa village and arrested Bhim Turi, said additional superintendent of police Sanjay Kumar Singh.

Teen found

Patna: A teenager, who was found in a semi-conscious state in a drain at Rajbanshi Nagar under the jurisdiction of Shastri Nagar police station on Tuesday, claimed that she had been raped and thrown off a car by her boyfriend on Monday night.

CBI raid

Patna: A CBI team carried out a raid at railway ticket reservation counters at Patna Junction on Tuesday and recovered excess amount from the booking clerk. The raid was conducted following a tip-off that booking clerks were hands in glove with some private travel agents, who booked fake tickets .
