Train coaches derail, no injury

Patna: Three coaches of Jhajha-Patna Passenger (63209) derailed around 10.42am on Thursday near Rampurdumra station on the Mokama-Jhajha route under the Danapur division of East Central Railway. There was no casualty or injury.

Danapur divisional railway manager N.K. Gupta reached the spot, around 100km east of Patna, and inspected the rescue and relief operations. The cause of the derailment has not been ascertained. Railway officials said a probe would be initiated.

Four express trains and two passenger trains were cancelled because of the derailment. Fourteen more trains operating on the Mokama-Jhajha route were diverted or terminated before destination.

Remote bank services

Patna: Allahabad Bank will open seven mini branches in the remote areas of Nalanda, Jehanabad, Patna, Buxar and Rohtas districts. The bank’s zonal head, J. Mishra, on Thursday said the branches would be opened as part of the institution’s commitment to provide banking services in remote areas.

Station stop

Patna: Indian National Trade Union Congress office-bearer Ajay Kumar on Thursday demanded a stop for the Patna-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express at Rajendra Nagar station.

Repair funds

Patna: The water resources department has sanctioned Rs 1.25 crore for undertaking repair work of various irrigation related schemes in the Gandak and Kosi river basins. An official press note in this regard was issued on Thursday.
