Court order on abduction case
Patna: A division bench of the Patna High Court comprising Justice V. N. Sinha and Justice A. Amanullah on Wednesday heard a Habeas Corpus petition filed by one Mira Devi for the production of her daughter who was a minor at the time when she was allegedly kidnapped by one Vikash Kumar.
The case was registered with Patrakar Nagar police station. After several months, the case came to light after she disclosed before a judicial magistrate that she was not kidnapped and she had married Vikash and wanted to live with him. During hearing of the case SSP, Patna and the station house officer of Patrakar Nagar police station were also present. On the directive of the court, the matter will be again heard on February 6. On the said date, the girl would be produced before the court.The SSP and the SHO have also been directed to remain present.
Panchayati raj insurance
Patna: Panchayati raj minister Bhim Singh on Wednesday announced that the government would start insurance for all members of panchayati raj starting from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. He also announced to provide a vehicle each to the district president and district panchayat raj officer. Singh made the announcement during the meeting of Bihar Pragatishil Mukhiya Sangh at Rabindra Bhavan. Speaking on the occasion where the members of panchayati raj has gathered from across the state in support of their 27 demands, Singh said the department was taking all possible steps to strengthen the institutions.
Bribe cuffs
Bagaha: The block education officer of Mahubani block in West Champaran district, Nagendra Sharma, was caught red-handed by a team of the state vigilance bureau while accepting Rs 3,000 as bribe on Wednesday.
Prison break
Bettiah: At least two inmates escaped from the Bettiah district jail after breaking grilles of a window late on Tuesday night. Krishna Ram was an undertrial in a train robbery case while Lal Bihari Prasad was convicted in an abduction case.
Charas seizure
Bettiah: Gopalpur police seized 19kg of charas hidden beneath a heap of straw from a tractor on Tuesday night. Four persons were arrested in this connection.

Chhapra: District magistrate Kundan Kumar on Wednesday handed over the land papers to commandant of Indo Tibetan Border Police, M.A. Beg, for the construction of a training centre of the force in the district.
Rajak jab
Patna: Food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak on Wednesday attacked BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi over the condition of Dalits in Gujarat. Rajak cited the example of survey conducted by Tata Institute of Social Sciences and said the survey mentioned that there were more than 12,000 manual scavengers in Gujarat.

Patna: On the sixth consecutive day, the seventh National Expo organised by NGO Resham Bunkar Khadi Gramodyog Sangh and Nice received good crowd and attracted youths in large numbers on the premises of Miler High School on Wednesday.
Trains cancelled
Patna: Two trains — Darbhanga-Katihar Passenger (55223/55224) and Katihar-Tata-Katihar Link Express (28181/28182) — have been cancelled on January 31 owing to non-interlocking work at Kataria in Sonepur division.
