CID to probe murder

Patna: The state police have handed over the investigation of a murder case involving Bhagalpur mayor and JDU leader Dipak Bhubania and ward councillor Sanjay Sinha to the CID.

On Monday, the office of the director-general of police intimated the local police about the state’s decision to hand over the July, 2006, murder case of Congress leader Dibesh Singh to the CID for investigation.

Crossword

Patna: The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) has given permission to students of other boards to take part in the CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest 2014 (CCCC 2014) in which students from classes IX to XII can take part. Extra C, a Patna-based civil society initiative, has been asked to coordinate the event. The city rounds for Bihar schools would be held in Patna (July 25), Gaya (July 26) and Bhagalpur (July 28). Winners of city rounds would take part in the national contest in New Delhi in November.

Protest

Muzaffarpur: Police had to open fire at Harnahi village on Tuesday to disperse people who were protesting irregularities in the distribution of ration card of food security by blocking Motipur-Sahebganj road.

Delegation

Patna: A delegation of Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries called on chairman of Bihar State Power Holding Company Pratyaya Amrit to apprise him about the power related issues concerning entrepreneurs and traders.

Showroom

Patna: Samsung India has opened its exclusive showroom at Dakbungalow Chowk.

Scholarship

Patna: Scholarship of Rs 25,000 would be given to girl students who would pass Plus Two examination with first division. A decision to this effect was taken on Tuesday.
