Two die in road mishap

MOTIHARI (PTI): Two persons were killed and as many injured on Monday in a collision between two vehicles on NH-28 in East Champaran, a police officer said.

The mishap occurred near Khajuria Chowk, as a speeding mini-truck rammed into another truck resulting in the death of the mini-truck owner and driver, while the truck driver and another person suffered injuries, Kotwa police station in-charge Shambhu Kumar said.

The victims were identified as Mithilesh Awasthi (30) and Ankush Kumar (21), he said. The injured persons were rushed to Sadar hospital, he said.

Governor's Maha praise

PATNA: Governor Ram Nath Kovind on Monday met Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis at the latter's official residence in Mumbai. Kovind is on a five-day visit to Maharashtra, where he met industrialists. During the meeting, Fadnavis praised the contribution of non-resident Biharis in the development of Maharashtra.

Fake Facebook

PATNA: A teenaged girl from Mahendru met the SSP on Monday stating that someone had opened a fake Facebook profile of her and was posting vulgar pictures on it. The girl alleged she had lost the memory card of her phone and her pictures on the card were used in creating her profile.

Robbery foiled

CHHAPRA: A resistance from the guard, manager and other employees helped in foiling an attempted robbery at an LIC branch in Saran on Monday. but the criminals managed to escape with more than rs 5,000 after injuring the guard, manager and other employees.

Bank branch

CHHAPRA: The general manager of Dena Bank, Nirmal Joshi, inaugurated the 42nd branch of the bank in Bihar at Chhapra on Monday.

Land meet

PATNA: Dalit Adhikar Manch at Rabindra Bhawan organised a conference on the issue of land rights here on Monday. more than 1,800 landless labourers from 28 districts took part in the conference, which put forth before the government a 29-point charter of demands.

Nursing job

PATNA: Deputation of newly recruited 407 auxiliary nurse midwives was made through a lottery in Patna division on Monday. The ANMs were deputed by Patna division commissioner through lottery system after complaints about irregularities were received by the commissioner's office in their earlier postings.

Prohibition

PATNA: All India Progressive Women's Association (AIPWA) demanded complete prohibition in the state. The members took out a protest March here on Monday in support of the partial prohibition.

Kids injured

GAYA: Four children aged between 5 and 10 years were injured badly in an explosion while enjoying bonfire at Pachmahalla in Jehanabad town on Monday evening.
