Patna, Sept. 18: Around 60 candidates denied permission to take the bank probationary officer (PO) examination for not having the required documents today staged a road blockade for over an hour, disrupting traffic movement on Ashok Rajpath.

A photo identity card, the original challan of the bank draft made while applying for the post, admit card and recent photographs were mandatory for appearing in the examination conducted by the Institute of Banking Personal Selection (IBPS). The agitating candidates were not allowed to enter their examination centre at BN College because they did not carry them.

There was despair and frustration among the candidates debarred from taking the examination. First, they tried to convince the authorities. But after their efforts went in vain, they resorted to road blockade.

Mohammed Junaid, who had come to take the test from Gaya, told The Telegraph: “I have been preparing for the PO examination for the past two years. The IBPS should not have debarred us from taking the examination in want of these documents.”

Junaid did not have the challan of the bank draft. “I had all the documents except the bank draft receipt. Yet, I was not allowed to appear in the examination,” he said.

M.N. Sinha, the principal in charge of BN College, said: “We just conducted the exam and followed the guidelines laid down by IBPS.”
