Patna, Sept. 14: A formal announcement of the allocation of seats among the JDU-RJD-Congress would be made tomorrow even as the grand alliance leaders held long parleys at chief minister Nitish Kumar's 7 Circular Road residence today.
Emerging from the meeting, RJD legislature party leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui, who was accompanying RJD state unit president Ram Chandra Purbey and Lalu's aide Bhola Yadav, said the process of seat allocation is being done peacefully and by Tuesday evening the formal announcement would be made.
"The process of seat allocation is going on in a proper way in an amicable ambience. There is no confusion among us. I don't need to stress upon which seat is going to which party. A final decision would be taken. If possible, allocation on all 243 seats would be announced at one go. If it doesn't happen, announcement would be made for the first two phases tomorrow," said Siddiqui.
The first phase is on October 12 and the second on October 16. In the first phase, a total of 49 Assembly segments would be covered in 10 districts and in the second phase 32 constituencies would be covered in six districts.
On the focus of today's meeting, Siddiqui said it was on seat and candidates on which the RJD and the JDU would field their respective candidates.
The RJD has also called its parliamentary board meeting tomorrow, which would be chaired by former chief minister Rabri Devi, starting 3pm at a hotel, followed by a press briefing. Sources in the RJD said the party could announce the seats and candidates of the first two phases.
JDU national president Sharad Yadav was the first to reach Nitish's residence to attend the meeting followed by JDU state unit president Bashishtha Narayan Singh and bureaucrat-turned-politician RCP Singh.
The RJD leaders reached the venue after them, however, Sharad left an hour prior to the end of the meeting and chose not to speak to the media standing outside Nitish's residence.
On the chances of sitting MLAs being denied tickets in the election, Bashishtha said: "It is obvious that in the seat sharing process, candidates are denied tickets on both sides. Some seats we have to leave and some our alliance partners."
When the alliance was stitched between the JDU, RJD and the Congress, RJD chief Lalu Prasad had made it clear that many sitting MLAs would be denied tickets and they would be accommodated by giving some ranks in the party.
Today's meeting lasted for four hours, followed by Nitish's meeting with ticket aspirants who had gathered in large numbers. A group from Jehanabad tried to disturb the meeting when they started sloganeering in support of Nitish, demanding ticket for one Shyam Kishore Sharma, a professor with Swami Sahjanand College, Jehanabad.
The Jehanabad seat is occupied by JDU's Abhiram Sharma and the ticket aspirants were demanding to deny him another chance and give it to Shyam Kishore, who hails from the Bhumihar caste.
In today's meeting, Congress leaders were not present as they already had several rounds of meeting with Nitish and Sharad in the past three days.
