An alert has been issued in six districts - West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Muzaffarpur and Vaishali - on Sunday following landslides in the Kali Gandaki river in Nepal's Myagdi.
Dipak Kumar Singh, principal secretary, state water resources department, said: "We have opened all sluice gates of the Gandak barrage at Valmiki Nagar. The normal discharge at the barrage is 50 cumec and we do not expect any sudden rise. We don't anticipate any flash flood-like situation but the alert has been issued."
