Central security personnel and police have decided to set up a police picket and install CCTV cameras at the Gaya International Airport entry after the airport director received a threatening letter.
Airport director Dilip Kumar received a letter allegedly signed by Maoists on Tuesday, threatening to kill him. City superintendent of police Avkash Kumar convened the security review meeting on Wednesday. Officials of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force, Intelligence Bureau among others attended the meeting.
"We will submit a proposal to the airport director to establish a police picket along the boundary wall in front of the airport terminal building," Avkash said.
Avkash added that although the CISF ably managed the airport security, a police picket was necessary because of frequent reports of people scaling the airport's boundary wall and entering the premises unauthorised.
On the letter received by the airport director, he said the letter was signed with three names - Anil Kumar, Mantu Kumar and Ravindra Singh of Jharkhand - and asked Dilip to leave the job. After receiving the letter, the director contacted senior superintendent of police Garima Mallik and Avkash. An FIR has been lodged at Magadh Medical police station.
Avkash ruled out any Maoist involvement in the threat letter and said the police would contact the postal department on Thursday.
