Jai Prakash University has stopped the admission process in 21 colleges affiliated to it for the 2012-13 academic session.

The university administration took the decision after an inquiry committee found that the institutions lacked basic infrastructure. All the colleges were, however, given no-objection certificates by the university in the past two years.

The university has constituted a University Affiliation and New Teaching Committee to probe into the conditions of the colleges and submit a report by August 31.

The 11-member committee headed by vice-chancellor Ram Vinod Sinha would meet on September 1 to decide the fate of these institutes. The committee would assess the number of students, laboratories, furniture, size of libraries, number of books, playground facilities and number of teachers and non-teaching employees.

Acting registrar Nand Kumar Singh said: “The new enquiry panel was set up on the basis of the earlier report”.
