Women councillors attend a lunch organised on Sunday. The councillors had moved a no-trust motion against former mayor Afzal Imam and got him ousted in a special meeting on Thursday. Senior councillors, including former deputy mayor Vinay Kumar Pappu, Deepak Chaurasiya and Sanjay Kumar Singh, attended the luncheon among others. Majority of the ward councillors present in Sunday's meeting were from the BJP. Informal discussions went on among the councillors regarding the name for the next mayor. The Election Commission is expected to announce the date of the election for the mayor's post shortly. Around 39 ward councillors were in attendance on Sunday. They shared their views on the future course of action. "The names of the candidates from our side would be announced once the Election Commission notifies the date for election of mayor," said ward councillor Sanjay.
