Gaya, Dec. 25: A group of villagers lynched three criminals at Mangrawan panchayat in the district today after the latter fired at a former mukhiya, who succumbed to his injuries.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sunil Kumar said the former mukhiya of Mangrawan under Paraia block was going to Mubarakpur village on a motorcycle around 1pm when the criminals attacked him. He died while undergoing surgery at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital.

Kumar said the villagers caught the three assailants near Puna and lynched them.
