Police have failed to get any leads in the alleged abduction of two government employees, let alone rescue them, even after almost a fortnight.

On June 22, panchayat secretaries Tejnarayan Rai and Shambhu Rai, were abducted from Mangal Pethia.

Tejnarayan is the panchayat secretary of Varishnagar block, while Shambhu is posted at Pusa block.

On June 24, a ransom call was made to Tejnarayan’s home demanding Rs 50 lakh.

Deputy inspector-general of police, Darbhanga range, Anwar Hussain said: “A team comprising three sub-divisional police officers led by Samastipur superintendent of police Varun Kumar Sinha is conducting raids. The team has started a probe.”
