Train service hit

Train movement in some parts of north Bengal and Assam were affected from Tuesday morning till afternoon as supporters of the All Assam Koch Rajbanshi Sammelan raised a blockade at Choutara and Simulguri, two stations in Assam.

Alipurduar: Train movement in some parts of north Bengal and Assam were affected from Tuesday morning till afternoon as supporters of the All Assam Koch Rajbanshi Sammelan raised a blockade at Choutara and Simulguri, two stations in Assam.

They were demanding Scheduled Tribe status for Rajbanshis in the state.

The blockades commenced at 6am, with more than 500 people gatherings on the tracks at both the locations. The protest continued till 1.45pm, after which train services resumed.
