Salt Lake: Traffic will be diverted from one of the gateways to Sector V between Friday midnight and Monday morning every week to allow shifting of an underground pipeline near the Nicco Park intersection.

When the diversion is in place, vehicles headed towards Sector V from EM Bypass will have to move straight down Salt Lake Bypass till the Wipro crossing, from where they will have to turn right to enter the township.

Vehicles headed towards Sector V from New Town and the airport from the Nabadiganta flyover will drive straight towards the Nicco Park crossing, take a U-turn 100m after the crossing and drive down the New Town flank of the Salt Lake Bypass till the Wipro intersection. From there, they will have to turn right to reach Sector V.

Amit P Javalgi, deputy commissioner, headquarters, of the Bidhannagar commissionerate said the traffic plan would stay in place only on weekends when the traffic flow in and around Sector V is lean.

"This diversion will not be in place on weekdays," said Javalgi.
