Eden Gardens stampede

  • August 16, 1980
  • Death toll: 16
  • The stampede occurred during a derby league match between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal

Bypass-VIP Road flyover

  • March 3, 2013
  • A 128ft-long slab of the Bypass-bound flank of the two-year-old flyover collapsed with a marble-laden truck near the Salt Lake-end around 4.10am. The three occupants of the truck escaped with injuries
