Malda, Sept. 28: The owner of a pathological laboratory allegedly assaulted a doctor of a government hospital in Chanchol for refusing to accept the blood test report of a patient. The test was conducted at the private clinic.

Dr Satyajit Saha of Chanchol Block Hospital had advised Pratima Das a test for haemoglobin count and blood grouping. The patient had got the tests done from the laboratory owned by Sanjib Saha. But the doctor refused to accept the report as the readings were “not correct”, police said.

When Pratima accused Sanjib of giving her wrong reports and demanded her money back, the lab owner went to the hospital.

“I asked the doctor to find out the mistakes. But he started assaulting me and also drove me out from the premises,” Sanjib, who lodged an FIR against the doctor, said. “Dr Saha wanted the test to be done from a clinic of his choice. So he refused to accept our report.”

The block medical officer of health in Chanchol, Subhendu Saha, who also filed an FIR against Sanjib, said: “The clinic owner assaulted the government doctor inside the hospital. This is not acceptable.”

Arup Sarkar, the inspector-in-charge of the Chanchol police station, said: “Investigation has begun. We have asked for the blood report. No one has been arrested.”
