Aug. 21: The father of a first-year student at Techno India University in Sector V has lodged a police complaint alleging that his son was being ragged over the past few months.

The student, Shramen Biswas, is pursuing a BTech course in electronic and communications engineering.

Father Shyamapada said in the complaint that a group of senior students surrounded his son this morning and assaulted him. According to the complaint, Shramen and his father had repeatedly knocked on the college authorities' door seeking help but they failed to rein in the seniors.

Techno India University chairman Goutam Roy Chowdhury said a probe committee had been formed. The police have ordered a probe, too.
