Police arrest three Bangladeshi nationals for illegally entering India

Locals informed the cops after learning that the trio was from across the border

Police arrested three Bangladeshi nationals on Tuesday afternoon for illegally entering the country, while they were on way to Malda town.

Sources said the trio — identified as Mohammad Kalu, of Habiganj district, Mohammad Sultan Mia and Mohammad Sarif Ali, of Sunamganj district, all located under the Sylhet division of Bangladesh — were moving in the Bulbulchandi area when some locals intercepted them.

The locals started quizzing them and soon learned that the trio was from Bangladesh and informed the police.

Soon, a team from Habibpur police station reached the spot and arrested the trio.

The police sources said none of them were carrying passports and visas.

The police suspect that they had infiltrated into India on some errand and were planning to return to their country. A probe is on.
