Calcutta: Subhabrata Majumdar, 46, arrested for preserving his mother Bina's body in a freezer at home for three years, has told cops that her molecules are alive, police said.

Majumdar's psychometric test started at the Pavlov Institute on Saturday. It is expected to give a clear picture of his state of mind in the next few days, a police officer said.

The leather technologist had earlier told cops that he believed technology would help revive his mother in future and that's why he needed to preserve her body.

He has claimed that he had been influenced by the "technology and vision" of an Arizona-headquartered organisation called Alcor Life Extension Foundation.

Alcor's website says it's "the world leader in cryonics, cryonics research and cryonics technology".

"Cryonics is the science of using ultra-cold temperature to preserve human life with the intent of restoring good health when technology becomes available to do so," according to alcor.org.

When cops found the body inside the freezer at the Majumdar home in Behala early on Thursday, he had requested them to be "careful". "Please do not disturb her brain," an officer quoted Majumdar as saying.

On Saturday, a team of doctors at Pavlov spent two hours with Majumdar, asking him his family and work details. "He wasn't asked about his mother on the first day," an officer who is in the know said.

Majumdar will be asked to complete a few exercises as part of the psychometric test. "The process should be over in two weeks," a hospital official said.

His mother's body that underwent a post-mortem on Friday was not handed over to his father on Saturday.
