Five Bengal districts get new police chiefs

The Bengal government on Monday transferred several IPS officers, including some district police chiefs.

Calcutta: The Bengal government on Monday transferred several IPS officers, including some district police chiefs.

Inspector general of police (traffic), north Bengal, Jawed Shamim, has been posted as additional commissioner 2 in Calcutta police replacing R. Sivakumar who is the new IG (headquarters) of the Bengal police. Shamim had earlier served in the Calcutta police.

Superintendents of police of five districts - Nadia, Birbhum, East Burdwan, North Dinajpur and Alipurduar - were changed.

Santosh Pandey was removed as the Nadia police chief and a new post of deputy commissioner (cyber crime) has been created for him in the Calcutta police. Rupesh Kumar, who was posted in the Calcutta police, is the new Nadia SP.

Kunal Agarwal has become the new SP of Birbhum. Previously, he was the East Burdwan police chief.

Sudheer Kumar Neelkantam, who was the Birbhum SP, has been appointed as deputy commissioner (east division) of the Calcutta police. Bhaskar Mukherjee will replace Agarwal in East Burdwan. Mukherjee was posted in the Bidhannagar commissionerate.

North Dinajpur SP Shyam Singh was transferred to the 10th battalion of the state armed police. Anoop Jaiswal is the new SP of North Dinajpur. Sunil Yadav, posted as DC traffic in Siliguri commissionerate, was made the Alipurduar SP.

Nagendra Tripathi will replace Yadav in the Siliguri commissionerate. He was earlier posted in the 10th battalion.
