Climber returns home dead

Subhas Paul, who died after summiting Mount Everest, at the highest point on Earth. The body of the 41-year-old was flown to Calcutta on Tuesday evening

Subhas Paul, who died after summiting Mount Everest, at the highest point on Earth. The body of the 41-year-old was flown to Calcutta on Tuesday evening. From the airport, Paul's remains were taken to his home in Bankura.Paul's sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa, clicked the mountaineer on top of Everest. He retrieved the pictures from Paul's camera after the body reached Kathmandu on Sunday evening."Lakpa showed us the pictures he had clicked after Subhas reached the summit. While descending he was exhausted and died between camps IV and III. Lakpa told us exhaustion had slowed him down and he had spent many hours at high altitude. He asked for water before death," said Subhas's friend Sk Alimuddin, who had gone to Kathmandu on May 24 to bring back the body.Paul - survived by his parents, wife and an 11-year-old daughter - earned a living by driving a goods vehicle."He had taken a loan for the Everest climb," Alimuddin said
