Calcutta: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued an alert late on Saturday that a question paper being circulated on social media as this year's Class X Sanskrit paper is actually from the previous year.

The Sanskrit exam will be held according to schedule on Monday (April 2).

"It is brought to notice that an "alleged" question paper of Class X - Sanskrit is being circulated on social media through YouTube link. The question paper (circulating on these social media sites) are verified to be an earlier year's question papers," the notice stated.

The " fake" alert for Sanskrit came hours after the board had warned about fake question papers of political science and Hindi (elective) on WhatsApp and YouTube.

The Hindi (elective) exam is on Monday (April 2) and the political science paper on April 6.

Schools were flooded with queries from worried students.

"One of my friends called me up and told me about a possible paper leak in Sanskrit. We were fearing cancellation of the examination and a change in schedule. The alert from the board has come as a relief," said a Class X student of a south Calcutta school, who did not want to be named.

"We have told the students to refer to the board's website for any kind of information about the examinations," said Rita Chattejee, the city coordinator for the examinations.
