July 28: Representatives of four American universities answered the admission-related queries of students at Calcutta International School (CIS) recently.

The admissions officers of Wellesley College, Stanford University, Dartmouth College and Harvard College tackled questions on everything from how to fill in application forms or seek financial aid to how to choose one's college.

Belinda Chiu, associate director of admissions (regional recruitment and planning), Dartmouth, pitched for her college. "We are always looking for students who want to be a little more independent. There is a lot of scope for research," she said.

Catarina Martinez, admissions officer at Harvard College, spoke about the various programmes on offer.

Michelle Strausman, assistant director, undergraduate admission, at Stanford University, highlighted the fact that the varsity has four graduate schools.

Wellesley College believes in educating women who will make a difference, said Lauren Dennis, assistant director of admission. "It is a beautiful, safe and clean campus," she added.

Munmun Nath, principal, Calcutta International School, said such sessions were important for students to help them chalk out the best possible career plan.
