“The sound of the explosion was even heard from the outskirts of Bolpur town. It led to us think several crude bombs exploded accidentally at the same time,” said a police source. Police have sent samples collected from the spot to the state forensic science laboratory.

“The bomb disposal squad collected several samples that we sent to the forensic science laboratory,” said Birbhum police chief Bhaskar Mukherjee. “A peaceful panchayat poll can’t be expected till the district is freed from bombs,” said a CPM leader in Bolpur.
