Ram Kamal Mukherjee’s film Lokkhikantopur Local journeys through the lives of three families — three couples scattered across the city, each chasing their own dreams. Their lives, though different in rhythm and address, echo the same struggle: the longing for stability in a city that never stands still. When unforeseen circumstances shake their fragile balance, each household finds itself opening its doors to a new presence — a househelp who steps quietly into their lives.

Through their eyes, the film unravels the unseen threads that bind the city together — threads of care, fatigue, affection, and survival. These women, who travel daily between anonymity and intimacy, become more than just househelps; they become witnesses, confidantes, and the invisible keepers of family rhythm.

Starring Rituparna Sengupta, Paoli Dam, Kaushik Ganguly, Chandreyee Ghosh, Indraneil Sengupta, Saayoni Ghosh and Rajnandini Paul, Lokkhikantopur Local is a tender exploration of the spaces between class and compassion, distance and belonging. It is a story of how the simplest connections — born in kitchens, courtyards, and crowded trains — become the heartbeat of both home and city. The film tries to see the different layers of relationships through the eyes of househelps who travel from Lokkhikantopur to Calcutta.

“The look of each character has been created keeping their social and financial status in mind. The looks have been distinctly designed to allow audiences to relate to them,” said Ram Kamal Mukherjee. Produced under the banner of Angel Creations, the film has been shot across various locations in Bengal. Sangita Sinha plays one of the female protagonists and doubles as the producer of the film.
