The Royal Thai consulate-general, in association with the Thai Trade Centre in New Delhi, recently hosted the Thailand Food and Fruits Fiesta 2025 at Spencers, South City Mall.
The fiesta, that ended on September 7, celebrated Thailand’s rich culinary and agricultural heritage, offering visitors the opportunity to savour authentic Thai flavours and premium fruits.
“The event is sharing a piece of Thailand with the city. We are showcasing 300 Thai products, including our signature high-quality tropical fruits,” said Suchira Panchana, director of the Thai Trade Centre, Delhi.
“Today we are not just sharing the treasures of Thailand but also fostering the bond of friendship that has connected the two nations across generations. We are inviting you to taste our passion. Thai food and fruits are loved across the world for their freshness, perfect harmony and unforgettable flavours. The comforting sweetness of sticky rice with mangoes to Tom Yum Goon, honoured by Unesco as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, to the ever-popular Pad Thai — every bite tells a story of our heritage and creativity,” said consul general Siriporn Tantipanyathep, after inaugurating the festival along with the chief guest, Indrajit Lahiri, food critic.

A highlight of the inaugural day was a live cooking demonstration of Pad Thai, one of Thailand’s most popular dishes, by chef Samrong Chanfaleum, the consul general’s personal chef. “Food is the best way to connect people. You can see how easy and fun it is to make. You can find the authentic ingredients right here at Spencers,” she said, with Deepak Gupta, vice-president — operations, Spencers, beside her. Shoppers who watched the live cooking demonstration were also handed portions of the Thai-style fried noodles to taste. A quiz tested their general knowledge about Thailand too.
