Some songs don’t stay in the past. They sit quietly in the background of our lives until one day we hear them again — and suddenly they sound different. The lyrics feel heavier, the melody more familiar, and the meaning more personal. The song Shaatjawnmer porichoy was reintroduced through a warm, intimate reprise by singer-songwriter and composer Ranajoy Bhattacharjee. Penned by filmmaker and lyricist Srijit Mukherji, Shaatjawnmer porichoy has long resonated with listeners for its poetic depth and emotional sincerity, which was originally featured in the film Killbill Society. The original film version, sung by Durnibar Saha, along with another rendition by Abhijeet Bhattacharya, received immense appreciation from audiences.

Recalling the response to the song, Ranajoy said, “We received a great response from listeners after the song was released on audio platforms as part of the Killbill Society album. People kept talking about the composition and the way Srijit Mukherji has beautifully penned the lyrics. That love inspired us to gift the audience another version — one that feels new, yet retains the essence, warmth, and beauty of the original track that everyone cherished.”

Speaking about the creative process behind the reprise, he added, “I decided to keep some of the soul of the original version while tweaking the rest. We added new elements, brought in a fresh vibe, and rearranged the song to give it a different feel. A music video was shot for this version. It revolves around a story that is simple, yet impactful.” In Ranajoy’s voice, Shaatjawnmer porichoy unfolds like an intimate dialogue between two souls. The song is streaming on the YouTube channel of SVF Music.
