Laapataa Ladies actress Nitanshi Goel has become the youngest actor to bag IMDb Breakout Star STARmeter Award for her role in the Kiran Rao-directed rural comedy drama at the age of 16, she said in a social media post on Tuesday.

“I just got to know from IMDb that I happen to be the youngest actor in the world to receive the IMDb Breakout Star STARmeter Award. And it also happens to be my first award for Laapataa Ladies. So, thank you for making this truly special,’ said Nitanshi in a video on Instagram.

Medha Shankr, Bhuvan Arora, Angira Dhar, Adarsh Gourav, Ashley Park, Natasha Bharadwaj, Ayo Edebiri, and Rege-Jean Page have bagged this award in the past.

The IMDb Breakout Star STARmeter Award is given to those artists who have made a significant impact with their performances on screen and become notable figures in IMDb searches.

Laapataa Ladies has received widespread acclaim and currently occupies the 25th position on the Top Rated Indian Movies list, boasting an IMDb user rating of 8.5/10.

The film follows two young brides who get swapped in a crowded train, leading to a series of incidents. The film also features Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav, Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan in the lead roles. The film was released on March 1 and is currently streaming on Netflix.

Nitanshi's previous roles encompass projects including M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Thapki Pyar Ki, Daayan, Masoom Sawaal and Ishqbaaz.
