Trinamul supremo Mamata Banerjee has assigned three heavyweights — Asansol mayor Jitendra Kumar Tiwari, minister Malay Ghatak and Birbhum party chief Anubrata Mondal — to chalk out the strategy to win the Purulia and Bishnupur Lok Sabha seats.

“See… Asansol mayor Jitendra and Malay have come here to work together with you in Purulia. They are very good. This unity is the strength of our party,” Mamata told a rally in Purulia’s Hura on Wednesday.

Tiwari and Ghatak have been camping in Purulia after the fourth phase elections were over on April 29. Mamata has already deputed Mondal in Bishnupur

Mamata alleged at several rallies that the BJP would bring in miscreants from neighbouring BJP ruled “Jharkhand.

The BJP and the CPM, however, alleged Trinamul had brought in the three leaders known for their muscle flexing in order to rig the polls.

“Trinamul has brought in Anubrata Mandal to loot votes. The polling will not be free and fair if the Election Commission does not deploy central forces at all booths,” said Saumitra Khan, the BJP candidate for Bishnupur.

Khan also demanded that Mondal be sent back to Birbhum and confined to his home on the polling day.

Trinamul has denied the charge. “We all are soldiers of Mamata Didi and not outsiders. We are planning how we can resist the BJP’s rigging with the help of central forces,” said Tiwari.
