Get ready to enjoy various genres of music under the sky as the development authority is planning to resume the Music in Park event at one of its park to entertain the visitors and tourists during the men’s hockey world cup in November.

“We are trying to rope in a non-profit organisation, which will help us conduct the musical event. After the selection of the agency, we will decide on the park where the event will be held. The aim is to entertain visitors and tourists coming here during the men’s hockey world cup,” said a BDA official.

An official said the selection of the agency would be completed by mid-November while the event would start at the selected venue in November third week.

“The selected agency will approach the artists and create a musical ambience at the venue for the visitors,” said the official. The development authority had conducted similar events at IG Park in December 2016 for two months. The development authority had also conducted a Indian classical music concert where Pandit Jasraj performed.

A source said a special committee would be formed for the selection and screening of the non-profit organisation. “The horticulture department will organise and coordinate the events at the venue as it was done in the past,” said the vice-chairman of Bhubaneswar Development Authority, Krishan Kumar.

Sailashree Vihar resident Ratikant Sahoo said it was a good move of the administration. “Musical events at the park will improve the image of the city,” he said.
