Rourkela, Nov. 9: The fourth Rudradhara Dance Festival, organised by Debnrutyam Studio at the Civic Centre, came to an end yesterday evening.
The two-day programme saw solo and group performance by renowned artists and also students of the institute.
The audience saw some graceful renditions of Odissi, Kuchipudi, Bharatnatyam and Mahari dance.
“After a long time, we have brought Mahari back to the stage in Rourkela,” said Debasis Pattnaik, the dance guru and promoter of the institute.
On the first day, Leena Nanda from Bhubaneswar began the evening with an Odissi performance. This was followed by Kathak, which was presented by Neha Poddar from Calcutta.
The subtle Odissi steps and the expressive nuances of Kathak mesmerised the audience.
Twin sisters Ananya and Apoorva S. Rao synchronised their steps brilliantly in a scintillating Kuchipudi performance.
All of 16, the girls from Mangalore presented a very mature act. The duo shared perfect coordination thereby making their performance a memorable one.
Finally, the students of Debnrutyam concluded the evening with their rendition.
On the second day, Gayatri Chand from Bhubaneswar enthralled the audience with her intricate Odissi moves.
This was followed by a solo performance of Bharatnatyam by Debaldev Jana, from Calcutta. This doctorate degree holder in mathematics never for a while left the audience in doubt about his ability on stage.
Later, Pompi Paul from Calcutta gave a stupendous performance in Odissi. Finally, Kotapati Aruna Kumari and her group swept the audience with their spectacular Kuchipudi act.
All 150 students of Debnrutyam belonging to different age groups also performed in the two-day long festival. CEO, Rourkela Steel Plant, G.S. Prasad was the chief guest on the inaugural day and Subrat Tarai, MLA Raghunathpalli was the chief guest on the concluding evening.
