Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dhruba Jyoti Borah confers Lumber Dai Literary award on writer Dilip Bora at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday.

Bora received the award for his novel, Xodhoyapuror Xonor Mekuri (The Golden Cat of Xodhoyapur), during a ceremony to celebrate Dai's 76th birth anniversary.

The award comprises a memento, gamosa, seleng sador and Rs 25,000 in cash.

Receiving the award, Bora said Dai, who has written several books in Assamese, is a symbol of bridging Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

He said it was unfortunate that the new generation was losing interest in local languages.

Borah said the Sabha would take steps to strengthen the relationship between the two states.
