Guwahati, Aug. 23: Dynamo Club eased past Food Corporation of India Sports Club (FCI SC) by 3-1 goals in the Abhishek Motors R.G. Baruah Trophy Guwahati Super Division Football League at Nehru Stadium here today.

With the kickoff, it was Dynamo who revealed their intentions with repeated attempts to score while the FCI side looked completely inexperienced with the absence of their regular custodian Gobinda Boro and seasoned midfielder David March Goyari.

FCI, too, had their share of chances with Rakesh Das missing out on an absolute scoring opportunity after a tussle for the ball inside the box in the fifth minute.

The eighth minute saw Dynamo taking the lead through Oneybi Nandos Ogbonna. Taking advantage of Sachin Basumatary’s failure to clear the ball, Ogbonna found the back of the net with ease.

It didn’t take much longer for Dynamo to ensure a two-goal cushion as the side was awarded a penalty in the 15th minute of play. Subungcha Daimary, handling the ball inside the danger zone, worsened things for FCI as Ajangpu Kabui made no mistake in converting the spot kick.

Despite a two-goal lead, the Dynamo players continued their attacks with every passing minute. Somnath Chakraborty missed the target by a whisker in the 26th minute.

Paniram Mashahary failed to minimise the lead as his shot missed the target for FCI in the 29th minute.

FCI were soon rewarded with a penalty after Rakesh Das, making his way past the Dynamo defenders, was obstructed inside the box in the 36th minute. Birdwm Basumatary, who took the shot, made no mistake in converting in the 37th minute.

At a time when the play was starting to slow down, Deepak Roy produced a gem of a goal in the additional minutes of the first half to make it 3-1. His powerful strike from inches outside the box took the aerial curve to leave the inexperienced FCI custodian with no reply.

After the lemon break, play was mostly confined to the midfield. Onyeama Francis, making his way past the FCI defenders, failed to find the required result in the 46th minute. Francis, on having received a pass from Deepak Roy, made an attempt to score, but the ball rebounded from the hands of FCI custodian.

Substitute Biswajit Swargiary didn’t trouble Dynamo custodian Mantu Mallick despite being in a suitable scoring position in the 64th minute.

The side again came close to scoring in the 78th minute after Biswajit Swargiary’s cross from the right flank found Rakesh Das lurking inside the box. However, latter could only manage the safe hands of Mantu Mallick.

Navajyoti Club will take on Sunrise Athletic Club tomorrow.
