Dibrugarh, Jan. 29: The 18th National Space Science Symposium, sponsored by Isro in association with Dibrugarh University, was held today at the Dibrugarh University Ranghar auditorium here.

Imphal: Haji Abdul Salam, 66, was elected unopposed to the Manipur’s lone Rajya Sabha seat as no candidate filed nomination papers.


Guwahati: The army’s Red Horns Division organised a seminar on contemporary issues in lower Assam to refine overall approach to counter-insurgency operations at Rangiya in Kamrup district on Wednesday. The seminar was attended by senior civil servants, top ranking police officials, intellectuals and army officers.


Guwahati: The National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases in Assam was launched on Wednesday by fisheries minister Basanta Das at the College of Veterinary Sciences here at Khanapara.


Guwahati: The Assam Science Technology and Environment Council of the Assam department of science and technology will hold Asomar Bigyani, a programme to recognise the scientific contributions of people, on the premises of the Guwahati Planetarium here on February 1. Assamese scientist and educationist, Anil Kumar Goswami will be felicitated during the programme for his various contributions.

Bru voters

Aizawl (PTI): A meeting of major NGOs urged the Centre and the state governments of Mizoram and Tripura to ensure that all the inmates of the Bru relief camps in Tripura return to Mizoram by the end of February. The NGOs would take steps to ensure that those who refuse to return to Mizoram after February were deleted from the Mizoram voter lists.
