Awards for contribution to society

Ten awards in nine categories will be presented by the Byatikram group on its 14th Byatikram Awards and Pankaj Udhas Ghazal Sandhya 2018 at the Pragjyoti ITA Centre in Machkhowa on Saturday.

Guwahati: Ten awards in nine categories will be presented by the Byatikram group on its 14th Byatikram Awards and Pankaj Udhas Ghazal Sandhya 2018 at the Pragjyoti ITA Centre in Machkhowa on Saturday.

The award evening will be begin by a ramp walk by winners and participants of the Queen of the Northeast 2018, a pageant for married women organised by Byatikram in June, followed by the awards ceremony and a performance by ghazal maestro Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas.

Byatikram Awards are conferred upon dynamic personalities and institutions of the region that have contributed to the society in the field of culture, literature, education, sports and music. Earlier, award events have also been accompanied by a cultural night graced by a celebrity of the region.

The categories and awardees for 2018 include Byatikram Literary Award to Kamal Shing Narzary; Byatikram Exceptional Personality Award to Prashant Das, Byatikram Educational Excellence Award to JIS (Eastern Zone) and Concept Educations (NE); Byatikram Award for Social Work to Dr P. Leelavathamma; Byatikram Man of the Year Award to Pradip Buragohain; Byatikram Entrepreneur Award to Sanjay Aditya Singh; Byatikram Young Entrepreneur Award to Aditya Agarwal; Byatikram International Excellence Award to Major Samsul Areefin; and Most Promising Tourist Place of Assam to Dima Hasao (NC Hills Autonomous Council).

Byatikram co-founder Saumen Bharatiya said, "There are many individuals of our state working day and night for the betterment of society. It is our endeavour to acknowledge these personalities and institutions, encouraging them to continue their good work."
