Aizawl: The Mizoram Football Association will partner with LG Electronics to host the LG Independence Day Football Tournament here from July 27. The final is scheduled to be played on August 15.

A statement by the association on Thursday said the LG I-Day Cup will feature the eight Mizoram Premier League clubs and two invited teams.

Amit Gujral, chief marketing officer, LG, said, "We are aiming to aid the progress of Mizoram football. We are very pleased to have a fruitful working partnership with the association. This bond will serve not only as a working relationship for this tournament but as a foundation for future collaboration."

The 10 teams will be divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals. The draw for the tournament will take place on July 25.

MFA honorary secretary Lalnghinglova said they are happy that a company like LG has chosen to work with them.
