Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Tuesday morning for medical tests. He was released around 6.30pm.

"We don't know the results of the medical tests that he underwent or what medical advice he has been given by the doctors there. But he has been resting and so far no meetings or engagements are slated for Wednesday," a source close to Nitish said from New Delhi.

Nitish (67) was brought to AIIMS around 8.30am, and was kept in a room on the fifth floor. He had arrived in Delhi on Monday afternoon and was supposed to participate in final talks with the BJP top brass on election seat sharing.

Officials said he had gone for "routine check-up" after falling ill thrice in three months. The chief minister had come down with viral fever on August 31 and was ill for almost nine days. Sources said he was examined under AIIMS director Randeep Guleria for problems related to eyes, knees, and lungs.
