Himachal victorious

Himachal Pradesh notched up a six-wicket win over Kerala in their Group C Ranji Trophy match at the Eden on Saturday.

Calcutta: Himachal Pradesh notched up a six-wicket win over Kerala in their Group C Ranji Trophy match at the Eden on Saturday.

Chasing a meagre total for victory, Himachal raced to 103 for four in 25 overs. Karaparambil Monish picked up three wickets for Kerala, but it all turned out to be in vain.

For Himachal, Gurvinder Singh was the best bowler, returning impressive figures of 5/37 in 15.5 overs that turned the game on its head. Mayank Dagar and captain Rishi Dhawan took three and two wickets, respectively.

After the game, an elated Gurwinder said: "It was my comeback match in the Ranji Trophy. I played for the team after a gap of three years. I am extremely happy ."
