A concussion to Akash Deep and a left thumb injury to Anustup Majumdaron Day 2 of their final RanjiTrophy group league clash against Odisha left Bengal a tad worried on Wednesday.

The Bengal camp would obviously hope the duo regain full fitness as there aren’t too many days left for the last eight clash which begins on January 31.

Pacer Akash, who bowled six overs and took a wicket, hurt his head while fielding early in the second over on Wednesday. His absence did affect Bengal’s plans as concussion substitute Geet Puritook just one wicket, conceding 61 off 21 overs.

Odisha’s last pair — quicks Sunil Roul and Basant Mohanty (in his final appearance) —frustrated Bengal for quitesome time as their 38-runstand lifted the visitors’ firstinnings total to 265.

Odisha, thereafter, had the hosts two down for 39 at stumps with opener Karan Laland No.3 Sudip Gharami dismissed.

Brief scores: Odisha 265 (S. Senapati 67; P. Chakraborty 3/59). Bengal 39/2 (A. Easwaran 14 batting). At stumps, Day II.
