London: Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has criticised Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's poor record in finals in the latest instalment of their long-running war of words.

The German recently blasted Ramos for injuring Mohamed Salah and colliding with goalkeeper Loris Karius during Liverpool's 3-1 Champions League final defeat by Real in May.

Salah suffered shoulder ligament damage and left the pitch in tears with huge questions hanging over his participation at the World Cup in Russia.

It later emerged that Karius had suffered a concussion, and following the incident he made couple of blunders to concede two goals.

"It's not the first final (Klopp) has lost, he should stick to his own business," Ramos told reporters.

"Some of us have been operating at a very high level for many years, I'm not sure he can say the same."

Klopp, who described Ramos as "ruthless and brutal" has failed to win six of seven finals during his coaching career.

The German broke his silence on Ramos's actions in an interview during Liverpool's pre-season tour of America.

"If you watch it back and you are not with Real Madrid, then you think it is ruthless and brutal," said Klopp. "If you put all of the situations of Ramos together, and I have watched football since I was five years old, then you will see a lot of situations with Ramos.

"[With Salah] you don't think 'Wow, good challenge'. The thing is, I saw the ref taking charge of big games at the World Cup afterwards [Mazic officiated in the Brazil vs Belgium quarter-final] and nobody really thinks about that later.

"But I think in a situation like that, somebody needs to judge it better. If VAR is coming then it is a situation where you have to look again. Not to give a red card or whatever but to look again and say 'What is that?'

"It was ruthless. I don't think Mo would have always got injured in that situation, this time it was unlucky, but it is an experience that we cannot have.

"I'm not sure if it is an experience we will have again - go there and put an elbow to the goalkeeper, put their goalscorer down like a wrestler in midfield and then you win the game."

Ramos, meanwhile, has won four Champions Leagues, La Liga four times, the 2010 World Cup and two European Championship titles with Spain.

Ramos, meanwhile, has also blasted Cristiano Ronaldo for comments made after the Portugal star's move from Real Madrid to Juventus.

Ronaldo appeared to aim a dig at Real by praising Juventus as a 'family', recently saying: "Since I was a child, I looked at this team and I hoped one day I could play there. It's the biggest club in Italy and one of the best in the world, so it was an easy decision. It's different here, it's like a family."

In reply to that, Ramos said: "Here we have always felt like a family, so I don't know what he was talking about. We have had lots of success, which is because we are a family and he was part of that family, which we have continued to have.
