Ali's first overseas century

Moeen Ali registered his 4th Test century, his first away from home. His other three centuries have also come against Asian nations - two against Sri Lanka and one against Pakistan.

  • Moeen Ali registered his 4th Test century, his first away from home. His other three centuries have also come against Asian nations - two against Sri Lanka and one against Pakistan.
  • Ben Stokes in his previous three innings against India (in England in 2014) had made three ducks and now has registered his fourth Test hundred.
  • Stokes's four Test centuries have come at Lord's, in Perth Cape Town and now Rajkot. This means he has a Test century in Australia, Europe, Africa and now Asia.
  • England's 537 is their third-highest total in India. Their highest still remains the 652/7 decl. in Chennai, January 1985.
  • Last time three visiting players scored centuries in the same innings in India were Sri Lankans Tillekaratne Dilshan, Mahela Jayawardene and Prasanna Jayawardene in Ahmedabad, November 2009.
  • The only other occasion three England batsmen made centuries in the same innings in Asia came 55 years ago in Kanpur, December 1961, when Geoff Pullar, Ken Barrington & Ted Dexter made 100+ scores.
