q+a My Internet data pack (broadband) finishes quickly. How can I know if my WiFi is secure?
Anita Jaiswal
Change the password of your WIFi network frequently for protection from hackers and swindlers. They use a technique called DNS hijack to steal your passwords. In the aftermath of demonetisation, be extra careful while using credit cards, debit cards and digital payment apps. Hackers could empty your bank account in a jiffy. Use the F-Secure Router Checker tool to assure your Internet connection is safe. Go to https://campaigns.fsecure.com/router-checker/en_global and click on 'Check your router'. If your connection is at risk, the site will give you a list of things to check.
Malware present
q+a When my Windows 7 Home Basic computer boots, I get an error message about nengine.dll not starting. Also, a search bar mysteriously opens up in my browser.

You have been affected by some malware. Get Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 3.0 to remove the offending programs and install a proper anti-virus program. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware can run in conjunction with an anti-virus program without any conflict.
Compatible phones
q+a I am planning to buy an iPhone from the US. Which models are compatible with India's 4G LTE?
Raj Chaudhuri
The models of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus sold in India are A1778 and A1784. They work on the LTE networks of Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance Jio. However, you may not get these models in the US. You will get model A1660 (GSM) for the iPhone 7 and model A1661 (GSM) for the iPhone 7 Plus. They support India's LTE networks too, but make sure that they are contract free and not locked to a US operator. Also ask for the GSM model, specifically, and don't end up buying the CDMA model. If you are looking for an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, prefer models A1688 and A1687 respectively. If you don't get them, pick up either model A1633 for the iPhone 6s or A1634 for the 6s Plus. The GSM versions of these should work properly.
Browser hijack
q+a Whenever I try searching on Google Chrome or Firefox, the browser is redirected to Yahoo's search results. How can I stop this?
Deepungsu Pandit
Your browsers have been hijacked by a toolbar that now displays the Yahoo search home page instead of the one that you have configured. Get rid of this malware. Go to Control Panel and uninstall any suspicious programs that you see like - Search Provided by Yahoo, YesSearch, Search Protect, HohoSearch or something similar.
Scan and clean your computer for adware. These are programs that automatically display or download advertising material such as banners or pop-ups, or hijack your browser when you are online. Go to www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner and install Malwarebytes AdwCleaner for free. For removing the Yahoo toolbar, get Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 3.0, also from www.malwarebytes.com.
USB ports not working
q+a None of the USB ports on my Windows 8 computer are working. What should I do to solve the problem?.
Saad Ahmed
The only solution is to update your Windows 8. Go to a place where you can get proper Internet connection since a dongle will not work.
